As you know, I’m looking for a good student desk with good accents to match. I have to say I did like Target’s “Anywhere Desk” (pictured below). It comes in two colors but I only saw the ebony color on display. The other color it comes in is expresso. Overall you’re going to like this desk, but it does have a few cons you should be aware of.

anywhere ebony desk

First, you will appreciate how easy it is to put together. I think even someone that knows nothing about putting desks together could get this one up and running in 40 minutes or less. There is some assembly and directions but they aren’t like learning a foreign language so it is an actual do it yourselfer. Some of the in between details are left out but if you can put 1 and 1 together, this shouldn’t be a problem for you.

This desk has an ample sized pull-out drawer that enables front to open up for keyboards (not laptops though – just keyboards attached to a desk pc). In the back, there is a space for cords and cables to keep them out of your way. I think the rich color goes well in any apartment. Also, this is compact so students living in a dorm or studio apartment that need space will be able to incorporate a stylish, but space saving desk to study on.

target writing desk

So how big is the Anywhere Desk? The $99 price tag above says this is 30 inches in height by 20 inches in width. It has a 34 inch diameter. Overall, I give the Anywhere a 4.2/5.

As a practical matter, if you aren’t strong you may want help carrying this one home as the box is a little bulky and weighs about 30 lbs from the wood. If yours has any defects when you get it home, be sure to call Target up immediately and most of the time they will be happy to switch out a defective part and replace it with a good one in-store so you don’t have to wait. Target.com has these in stock as well but that could make any potential return difficult. I’m not sure if physical Target locations take back stuff from the website.

If you’re after a student computer desk, this can function as one but it’s probably a better fit for your laptop than a desktop. One problem is at first you’ll be subject to a little bit of that chemical paint treated wood smell when you take it out of the cardboard so you may want to turn on the fan and open up the windows.
