Reviews: Quality Student Desks Cheap
In previous entries I’ve tackled the best student desks at particular stores (Wal-Mart, Target, etc.). I received an email asking for a post on the deals on student desks the other day and as I’m not one to disappoint, here are my picks for best values on any student desk.
The Legare Student Desk with Hutch can be found at Amazon.com on sale for $249.99. The regular price is $299.99. All four customer reviews loved it, deeming the Legare a 5 star product. One father and daughter combo put it together in 15 minutes so it is super easy to assemble. The panels have a great smooth finish and the desk itself is ultra sturdy if you have a lot of stuff you want to put on it. Comes with adjustable shelves and is mobile. Fantastic value.
This next one was just too freaking cool to pass up. Sold at iFurn.com, there is a Black Glass Computer Desk that looks super high tech and overall very sleek. The top surface is black tempered glass and the frame is made of steel. It has a pull-out keyboard tray. They didn’t reinvent the wheel here as it’s the same basics as most other small computer desks, but the black glass is awesome.
I didn’t like that the hard drive didn’t fit within the confines of the desk. It isn’t exactly what you would call a cheap student desk at $244.61 but that is 60% off the manufacturer’s suggested retail price. There’s also a blue glass desk that looks just as cool. Free shipping at iFurn.com. Never heard of it, but if anyone buys these let us know.
The Stanford Computer Desk by Bush Furniture can be found at ComputerDesksNMore.com for $189.99. The inflated list price says $399.99 but those are always unreliable. Still, $189.99 looks like a pretty good value for the person looking for a traditional computer desk with an under $200 budget. I appreciate the simplicity of this piece and the colors of antique black for the base and cherry for the surface complement each other well.
Buyers almost unanimously agreed that the Stanford was attractive and performed it’s function well. However, this isn’t a breeze to put together. Expect to spend two to three hours assembling. It’s a very heavy type of office furniture so you will need some strength to maneuver it to its spot in the home. The plus side of this is it’s very sturdy. Overall, it’s a 4 star student desk that is a top nominee for best for your money.
